The Odour Unit Pty Ltd was established in April 2000 when its Principals, Terry and Carmel Schulz responded to clients' suggestion that they form a specialist odour consulting company. They had both worked in odour testing and consulting since their time at The University of New South Wales where they established Australia's first modern dynamic olfactometry laboratory in 1991.

The Odour Unit is staffed by experienced chemical engineers and environmental scientists who worked with Terry and Carmel in both of these organisations.

The objective of The Odour Unit is to provide to its clients a full-service, solutions-focused odour consulting capability with the flexibility and responsiveness that can best be provided by a small, specialist company.
