| Jordanian Odour Testing Laboratory
In April 2001 The Odour Unit supplied a 'turn key' odour testing facility to the Jordan Phosphate Mining
Company, in Jordan.
The contract followed an approach by JPMC to TOU for a facility that was identical to the laboratories
operated by TOU in Australia. The scope of work covered the supply and installation of a computer controlled,
forced-choice, dynamic olfactometer, and related ancillary equipment. This equipment included an odour-free
air supply system, odour sampling equipment, and a supply of odour sampling bags. One week of installation and
training in Jordan was also required.
The facility was installed at Jordan's largest phosphate rock mine 250 kilometres from the Capital, Amman.
The remote location necessitated a robust design of the facility and ample spare parts on hand.
The facility has operated reliably since its installation. TOU continues to provide advice on and review of
the operations.
