| COMMUNITY CONSULTATION The Odour Unit takes the position that early contact with the local/effected community is a key component of any odour management plan. We have a range of approaches for liaising with the local community. These include face-to-face contact in public meetings, individual contact methods, and various polling techniques. The community can also be invited to participate in field-based, ambient odour impact surveys. Such surveys use direct assessment of Odour Intensity, typically over a number of 30-minute periods in a day. When combined with a laboratory-determined odour intensity/concentration correlation for the source odour, a direct quantification of peak and average ambient odour concentrations are possible. A typical odour intensity/concentration correlation graph is shown. |
